What do my digital tools depend on, what can I replace, and how much control do I actually need?
A three-hour applied workshop on what our digital tools depend on, what can be replaced and how much control is actually needed.
Part of Discernimiento humano y creatividad soberana mediada por IA.
Context
Chapter 3 of the series, taught at The Multiverse School, class 291 (20 October 2026).
Sandra’s role
Created the Spanish workshop and its two resources; facilitated the session.
Contribution boundary
A situated adaptation of Liz Howard’s Intro to Open Source Software: its 90-minute practical core follows that course, and the repository health heuristics are Liz Howard’s. Sandra Acevedo’s additions: access, not only savings, as a starting point; basic repository literacy; a heuristic centred on human activity and maintenance rather than popularity; the AI-assisted Repo Scout; an exit rule that allows keeping commercial software; context for Spanish-speaking and Latin American communities; the clean-room / reimplementation / interoperability bridge; and the closing of the series.
Method
Practical lens on software, data and services: alternatives, repository literacy, adoption routes and AI-assisted scouting of open-source projects.
Outputs
Syllabus; GitHub para leer repositorios; Repo Scout.
Result / state
Taught and released; the repository mirrors the material already public at The Multiverse School.
